About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled School Social Worker to support a diverse special education student population. This role focuses on working with students who have significant cognitive impacts, including both verbal and non-verbal individuals. The School Social Worker will play a critical role in providing emotional and social support, crisis intervention, and advocacy to promote student success within an inclusive educational environment.

Requirements

• Active Illinois Social Worker (SW) license and a Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker endorsement required.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt communication methods to effectively support non-verbal and cognitively impacted students.
• Familiarity with special education compliance requirements and documentation standards.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with special education populations or students with cognitive disabilities strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized social work services to students with impacted cognitive levels and varying communication abilities, including non-verbal students.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), with an emphasis on social-emotional goals.
• Utilize effective de-escalation techniques and provide immediate support during emotional or behavioral crises.
• Work closely with educators, families, and related service providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive student support.
• Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community-based resources to address students’ social and emotional needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and reports in accordance with state and federal regulations.
