The School Social Worker provides a wide range of services and supports to students. This position serves as a liaison between the student, home, school, and community resources such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, and physicians. The School Social Worker consults with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine effective solutions. The position facilitates small group and one-on-one sessions as well as classroom lessons in social emotional learning, anger management, corrective thinking, and character education. The Social Worker may also make home visits and will support families in need.

  • Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds and lives of their students in and out of school
  • Implement and enhance the school’s systems and culture
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior to ensure that students observe the school’s core values, high expectations, and strict code of conduct
  • Coordinate school meetings with families
  • Referring individuals and families to external resources and services
  • Monitoring and facilitating the delivery of external resources and services
  • Evaluating impact and quality of external resources and services
  • Administering records, documentation, and other compliance activities
  • Provide appropriate supervision of students during class, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students’ safety and well-being
  • Additional duties as deemed appropriate at the sole discretion of district leadership
  • Master’s Degree in School Social Work
  • Current School Social Work license from the Department of Public Instruction or the ability to obtain one (code 50)
  • Experience in crisis and group counseling
  • Training and/or experience in social emotional learning, anger management, corrective thinking, and character education
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CPR certification or the ability to obtain it
  • 1+ years of experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and billing software
  • Strong communication skills including concentration, ability to learn, and good listening
  • Accurate problem solving, organization, attention to detail, and math skills
  • Ability to interact in a personal and professional manner with all customers
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member
