About The Position

A Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is essential in supporting the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing speech and language therapy to individuals with communication disorders. Your collaborative efforts will help improve clients' communication skills and overall quality of life. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistant program or related field.
  • California state licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) as required by the jurisdiction.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), provide direct speech and language therapy services to clients in a school or clinic setting.
  • Support clients with developmental disabilities using evidence-based practices tailored to educational and/or clinical environments.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Track and document client performance during sessions, reporting progress and concerns to the supervising SLP.
  • Prepare engaging, age-appropriate therapy materials and maintain an organized therapy space within the school and/or clinic environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support carryover of speech and language goals into the classroom.
  • In collaboration with the SLP, adjust therapy approaches as necessary to meet the individual needs and educational goals of each student.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support therapy outcomes.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines, state licensure regulations, and school protocols relevant to SLPA practice.
