About The Position

The School Security Officer will provide security for the school, students, and staff at Hope Learning Academy in Springfield, IL. This position does not have the power to arrest individuals for security breaches. WHAT YOU WILL DO Maintain overall security for all occupants and property of Hope Learning Academy Springfield, parking lots, and sites in accordance with established safety procedures. Patrol hall sweeps and monitor school property for unauthorized persons; redirect or escort from property if needed. Ensure all guests follow visitor protocol and monitor school grounds/entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and visitors access the school. Monitor student entry and dismissal to ensure safety; exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times. Report unusual activity or suspicions of safety issues to the Principal, Superintendent, or Chief Operating Officer in a timely fashion. Serve as primary participant in emergency response during crisis situations including but not limited to fire, tornado, and active shooter incidents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • 2+ years in related experience.
  • Knowledge of basic methods for site security and safety.
  • Successful background clearance, physical, and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.

  • Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, education, psychology, sociology, or organizational development.
