About The Position

The School Security Officer at Meadowbrook High School is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role involves maintaining a visible presence throughout the school to prevent crime, manage disruptions, and enforce school policies. The officer collaborates with school administrators and law enforcement to promote a safe educational environment and responds to emergencies as needed.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years experience in security or law enforcement.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or must be obtained after hiring.
• Must complete entry-level training to be certified as a School Security Officer within 60 days of employment.
• Successful completion of background investigations/tests including FBI and State Police checks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors in assigned locations.
• Patrol assigned areas, buildings, grounds, and parking lots to prevent disruptions and unauthorized entry.
• Maintain high visibility during student arrival, departure, and class changes.
• Enforce School Board policies regarding conduct on school property.
• Assist in stopping altercations and disruptive behavior.
• Conduct investigations of student violations and collect statements.
• Assist in searches for illegal substances or weapons as directed.
• Inspect physical security of the building and report maintenance issues.
• Collaborate with public safety personnel during emergencies.
• Prepare written reports of incidents and maintain proper records.
