About The Position

Maintains and upgrades the school’s academic information infrastructures including academic records archives (paper and electronic), on-line student database (Infinite Campus), student’s special education paperwork and timelines (Project Education data system), daily attendance, other electronic databases and information systems for Cedar Springs and Highlands Behavioral Health Hospital programs. Establishes and implements short- and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Represents the school to various hospital departments as well as externally to governmental agencies, vendors, students and their parents, and/or the general public. Recommends and participates in the development of school policies and procedures; may serve on hospital planning and policy-making committees. Collaborates with representatives of the Colorado Department of Education, and other national, state, and local organizations on the development and implementation of new requirements and practices from the guidance of the Director of Special Education.. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; previous experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records.
  • Database management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and edit the content, structure, and format of a range of written material.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Knowledge of records archiving and/or retrieval.
  • Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty in area of expertise.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Ability to analyze course prerequisites and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
  • Knowledge of student registration and academic requirements.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programs.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Department of Education policies and procedures.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of telephone answering and referral services.
  • Skill in accessing internet information services.
  • Ability to maintain deadlines
  • Knowledge of records retention and/or destruction policies and procedures.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the hospital's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to become certified in the hospital’s de-escalation and physical management training.
  • Employees must pass background checks and drug screening to work with children.

Nice To Haves

  • Substitute teaching license or ability to obtain license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, directs all facets of the operations of Cedar Springs Hospital’s Southgate School’s Office including student registration and records, class schedules, special education compliance and deadlines, graduation clearance, and other related matters.
  • Plans and develops strategies for maintenance and upgrading of academic information infrastructure.
