About The Position

The School Readiness Coach position at the Garrard County Education Center involves working with a development team to monitor and ensure program compliance while implementing the Council's research-based coaching plan. This role provides hands-on guidance and teaching instruction through high-quality interactions between students and adults, aimed at improving child assessment data outcomes. The coach will help maintain excellence in the CLASS assessment and ensure that students are identified as school-ready upon exiting the program. Additionally, the position includes providing training and technical assistance on child development best practices and ongoing professional development for staff and volunteers, in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and other relevant requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field (master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of Kentucky licensing regulations and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Proficiency in technology, including Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to manipulate the Council's internal database.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, AEPS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, ECERS, ITERS, Practice Based Coaching, and CLASS.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current child development practices.
  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
