Requirements

  • Valid PA School Psychologist (PK-12) Certification, required.
  • Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Chapter 14, Chapter 15, and Chapter 16 regulations, required.
  • Proficiency utilizing a variety of assessment platforms, interpreting results, and completing reports, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and written communication.

Nice To Haves

  • School Psychologist licensure, preferred.
  • Student Assistance Program (SAP) or Instructional Support training (IST), preferred.
  • Classroom teaching or other school-based experience, preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the special education or section 504 referral process, including evaluation, identification, and program development for students who meet eligibility criteria, outlined in Pennsylvania School Code, Chapter 14, 15, and 16.
  • Chair Chapter 15 meeting for the development of services plans for students with disabilities who are not in need of specially designed instruction; advise teachers and administrators in the referral, identification, and student service plan development for students meeting eligibility criteria per Chapter 15.
  • Communicates disposition of extraordinary cases with Director of Special Education/Student Services.
  • Monitor compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, maintaining confidentiality of student records.
  • Consult with community resources as part of student evaluation and program development recommendations and facilitate collaborative supports for individual students.
  • Develop individual intervention plans for student in collaboration with parents, teachers, and administration.
  • Submit timely ACCESS logs for potential reimbursement to the district for services provided to eligible special education students.
  • Maintain accurate student tracking per building in centralized data tracking system.
  • Adhere to timelines, processes, and procedures outlined in Pennsylvania Regulations, Chapters 14, 15, and 16.
  • Take leadership role in building-based problem-solving teams including but not limited to: Student Support Team (SST), Crisis Response Team (CRT), Instructional Support Team (IST), and Student Assistance Program (SAP).
  • Take leadership role with professional staff and administrators in providing awareness of best practices, programmatic issues, and procedural safeguard while dealing with special needs students.
  • Develop and lead professional development in areas related to school psychology, crisis management, and trauma informed care.
  • Advocate for least restrictive environment placement as appropriate for all students.
  • Provide clinical guidance to building level and central office administrators for staff and student safety concerns, disciplinary options, and compliance issues.
  • Participate in all manifestation determinations.
  • Partner with Curriculum and Instruction departments to promote data driven decision making for students within the district.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.
