School Psychologist for the 2025-2026 School Year POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist REPORTS TO: Exceptional Children Director BEGINNING DATE: Open Until Filled The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Requirements

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a North Carolina educator's license as a School Psychologist.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely
  • Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull
  • Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills
  • Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students
  • Must be able to drive to variety of sites
  • Must be able to tolerate a noisy, busy work environment with occasional very loud noises
  • Must be able to physically assist with the therapeutic/de-escalation process

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates learning and promotes the cognitive, social, functional, and personal development of all students
  • Identifies and assesses the learning, developmental, behavioral, functional, and mental health needs of students
  • Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate interventions and programs
  • Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to support student growth and development
  • Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the student growth and development
  • Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services
  • Participates as active IEP team member and contributes to building capacity in school EC staff
  • Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice
  • Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Keeps accurate records and adheres to timelines and standards
