About The Position

The School Psychologist at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children plays a crucial role in supporting the educational and emotional needs of visually impaired students. This full-time position involves conducting evaluations, collaborating with educational teams, and ensuring compliance with special education procedures. The psychologist will work closely with students, families, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • PDE Educational Specialist Certificate in School Psychology.
  • Master's degree and CAGS in school psychology.
  • Knowledge of educating students with multiple disabilities, including visual impairment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive Initial Evaluation (ER) and Reevaluation reports (RR), including the administration of observations and assessments.
  • Prepares and maintains Permission to Reevaluate documents.
  • Establishes RR dates to adhere to special education compliance procedures and communicates identified dates with IEP Coordinators.
  • Reviews information in RR's to ensure compliance.
  • Finalizes and sends completed Reevaluation Reports (RRs) to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) within required timelines.
  • Collaborates with education teams on social emotional learning.
  • Collaborates with Principal and Family Engagement Coordinator on program specific matters.
  • Maintains records and testing materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or principal.
