About The Position

The City of Gallatin is currently accepting applications for School Patrol Officer in the Police Department. This position involves controlling traffic flow into and out of school zones when school is in progress. Employees normally will work 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon Monday thru Friday when schools are open. This position does not include any City benefits. Rate of pay is $40.00 per day for working both periods.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.
• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Tennessee.
• Must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age and meet the physical and criminal records and other standards for the assignment established by the Gallatin Police Department.

Responsibilities

• Directs traffic at assigned school zones for one hour at the beginning and ending of each school day.
• Operates school zone lights (if applicable).
• Gives verbal warnings to motorists exceeding posted speed limits, etc., in school zones while on duty.
• Appears in court off duty when warrants have been issued.
• Performs other work as assigned.
