About The Position

The School Outreach Counselor at David L. Carrasco Job Corps is responsible for conducting outreach and recruitment activities to enroll students in various training programs. This role involves interfacing with outreach contractors, assessing student qualifications, and supporting the center's mission to prepare young people for the workforce. The counselor will model and mentor students in Career Success Standards, ensuring a commitment to personal and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field; or an Associate's degree with related experience.
• Experience in outreach and admissions, preferably in youth development programs.
• Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and direct recruitment activities.
• Interface with other outreach contractors.
• Determine student qualifications for enrollment.
• Model and mentor students in Career Success Standards.
• Attend and present at designated events such as job fairs and resource fairs.
• Develop linkages with referral sources to identify potential students.
• Interview candidates to support eligibility and complete applicant folders.
• Follow up on student progress and maintain communication with the center.
• Participate in industry advisory councils and community relations councils.
• Assist with contacting AWOL students and non-responsive former enrollees.
