About The Position

The School of Social Work in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their lecturer pool. We welcome applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in the following areas: Social Work Direct/Clinical Practice (including motivational interviewing and other treatment modalities) Social Work Administration Macro Practice (including policy, administration, management, organizations and community development) Social Work Research and Evaluation Social Work: Health, Mental/Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Addiction Children, Youth, Families Gerontology, Aging, Older Adults Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time. Appointments from the part-time pool are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, so applicants must be available on very short notice. The Fall term begins mid-August and ends late-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, to be renewed contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in our applicant pool during the academic year you apply.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited MSW program required for teaching social work practice courses and highly preferred for other teaching areas
  • At least two years of post-Masters related experience
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience preferred
  • Applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
