About The Position

The OHSU School of Nursing in Ashland is located on the Southern Oregon University campus, a nationally renowned liberal arts and science college located in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains. Ashland is 286 miles from Portland. This campus offers three programs: two to complete the Bachelor of Science with a Major in Nursing degree and a third to complete an Accelerated Bachelor to Master's program (Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner). Requirements

  • Each Nurse Educator Associate must hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing with the equivalent of a minimum of two years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.
  • Lecturer: BSN with 2 years of full-time clinical practice experience required.
  • Each Nurse Educator must hold at least a master's degree in nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing and master's or doctoral degree in a related field with relevant teaching and nursing experience related to the teaching assignment.
  • Must have the equivalent of a minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.
  • Document competency in teaching through experience, educational preparation, or continuing education.
  • Instructor: MSN or equivalent.
  • Assistant Professor: MSN, Ph.D./DNP with 3 years of full-time clinical practice experience required.
  • Current Oregon RN license.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective classroom instruction based on teaching assignments, using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Plans, supervises, and delivers effective clinical instruction in lab, simulation, and real-world healthcare settings, ensuring students apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
  • Mentors and advises students across academic and professional development areas.
  • Supervises students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
  • Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
  • Demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the science of clinical practice.
  • Advances a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
  • Participates in faculty governance and additional strategic initiatives based on rank.
  • Provides services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.
