The School of Music at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally needs to hire Music Part-Time Lecturers to teach in its Bachelor's/Master's program for the Fall 2025 & Spring 2026. This position is contingent upon the enrollment and scheduling needs of the Music program. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local community as needed. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV's guiding principles, which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to become one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A. Teaching assignments include Applied Lessons in a variety of instruments.

  • Deliver quality instruction in the Music program
  • Advise students
  • Participate in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local community as needed
  • Master's degree in Music from an accredited university
  • Ph.D. or DMA in Music required to teach graduate-level courses
  • Teaching experience is desirable
  • Ability to use technology to support teaching and learning
  • One-year university-level teaching experience preferred
  • Doctorate in Music Performance
  • Professional solo and ensemble performance experience
  • Willingness to teach at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses
  • Salary paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications
  • All positions are subject to budget approval
