About The Position

A Foundational Sciences Medical Educator at the Brigham Young University School of Medicine will teach across the medical school curriculum and contribute to a Christ-centered, collaborative learning environment that fosters student growth intellectually, spiritually, and professionally. This role will involve curriculum development, student mentoring, active participation in scholarship, and service to the institution.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, EdD, or PhD in anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, or a closely related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development in one or more of the following fields: anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and neuroscience.
  • Commitment to evidence-based, learner-centered instruction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Potential for scholarly activity and commitment to educational innovation.
  • Alignment with and commitment to the mission, values, and spiritual aims of Brigham Young University and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  • This position requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach medical students across the medical curriculum using diverse instructional methods, including problem-based learning, team-based learning, case-based learning, and other active learning approaches.
  • Develop, coordinate, integrate, deliver, and assess curricular materials in collaboration with other faculty.
  • Mentor and advise medical students on academic, curricular, and career development matters.
  • Facilitate student engagement in scholarly work, evidence-based medicine, and capstone projects.
  • Engage in scholarship.
  • Participate in the clinical curriculum as opportunities arise.
  • Contribute to departmental, school, and university service through committees, program leadership, and other initiatives or duties as assigned.
