About The Position

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is seeking part-time lecturers for its School of Art & Design to teach various courses in 2-D and 3-D Studio Art, Art Education, and Art History. The role involves delivering quality instruction, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities. The position is non-tenure track and is expected to start in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025, with a strong commitment to student success and the university's mission as a Hispanic-serving institution.

Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the specific subject area from an accredited institution.
• For Art History and Art Education, an M.A. or Ph.D. in a related field of study with 18 graduate credit hours in the specific subject area.
• Experience teaching various studio and foundations courses.
• Strong technical skills in the teaching area and related software.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience is desirable.
• Ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.
• Willingness to teach at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses.
• University-level teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality instruction in the Bachelor's/Master's program.
• Advise students on academic and career matters.
• Participate in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local communities as needed.
• Teach courses including Art Appreciation, Art Education, Art History, Drawing/Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and more.
