About The Position

The School Nutrition Manager is responsible for the financial and program management, supervision, and daily operation of the local school nutrition program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required.
  • Valid ServSafe certification required, or ability to obtain such certification within three months of employment. Must maintain for position.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive, professional, tactful, and cooperative working relationship with all educators, students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Some kneeling required.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Ability to work in conditions with extreme cold or heat.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of experience working as a school nutrition assistant in a public school setting, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the School Nutrition Program in compliance with all federal, state, local and BOE policies and procedures.
  • Implement and adhere to Classified Employee Work Rules and School Nutrition Personnel and Uniform Standards.
  • Maintain food cost control through planning, forecasting, ordering, and receiving.
  • Manage a financially sound school nutrition program including organization, delegation, and supervision of personnel.
  • Ensure sanitation and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Supervise all SNP Employees in assigned program and assist in staff selection; train and evaluate employees in all aspects of the school nutrition program including proper methods of food, preparation, serving, storage and sanitation.
  • Prepare a daily work schedule and cleaning schedule for all SNP employees including amounts of food to prepare, and records and tasks to complete.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation procedures including employee cleanliness and food handling, receiving, storage, and preparation and cooling; monitor temperature records of refrigerated equipment, freezers. and dry food storage areas.
  • Collect, count, and deposit all school nutrition program monies on a daily basis.
  • Manage the use and care of small and large equipment.
  • Promote school nutrition and exhibit good public relations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students and staff.
  • Complete all required training including, but not limited to, State Nutrition Training, annual local training, and 30 hour Orientation for Nutrition Employees.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by appropriate administrator.
