About The Position

The School Nurse at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School is responsible for overseeing health services, policies, and programs for students and staff. This role involves providing direct clinical care, performing health screenings, developing individualized care plans, and delivering health education to the school community. The position requires collaboration with other professionals and adherence to Massachusetts health regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Ability to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting).
• Computer literacy.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of experience as a School Nurse in a public or private school.
• Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Licensed by the Board of Registration in Nursing.
• Interest or experience in the arts.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with Massachusetts guidelines, regulations, and statutes.
• Collaborate with other professionals, colleagues, and community providers in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and other school health activities.
• Apply appropriate nursing theory as the basis for decision-making in the school setting while expanding knowledge and skills in response to student health needs.
• Provide direct clinical care including dispensing medications.
• Manage medical records with accurate and precise record keeping.
• Train teaching staff in mandated school health-related topics.
• Follow protocols of the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Dept. of Public Health.
• Perform other duties as required.

Benefits

• Salary range of $64,890 to $73,542 annually.
• Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area.
• Potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
• 40-hour work schedule with 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and 5 additional days in August prior to the start of the school year.
