Requirements

• Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland.
• Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience preferred..

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management of the health suite.
• Serve as a liaison between the school and other community organizations providing health and related services to students.
• Assess student's complaints of illness or injury and determine appropriate action to be taken.
• Administer first aid and emergency care.
• Handle and administer prescribed medication to students. Supervise staff administration of medication.
• Check for general health problems and conduct student health appraisals to identify and assess physical, behavioral and social needs.
• Provide hearing and vision screening.
• Maintain up-to-date student health records.
• Complete appropriate forms to report student accidents to the central office.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
• Provide health counseling to students and parents/guardians regarding special needs.
