School Nurse - Float Position (Regional)
About The Position
Always Compassionate Health is a leading provider of community home-based services in New York. The School Nurse (Float Position) is responsible for providing one-on-one nursing care to individual students in assigned schools and/or patients, supporting school-sponsored activities like field trips and organized events. This role involves delivering safe, high-quality nursing care in accordance with care plans, physician orders, and school policies. Additionally, the nurse will substitute on Private Duty Nursing cases or assist with RN administrative duties during school closures and holidays, and contribute to the onboarding and training of other RNs.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a clinical setting
- Demonstrated competency with: Feeding tubes, Seizure management, Diabetes care, Cardiac conditions
- At least 1 year of pediatric RN experience, preferably in a home care or private duty setting (resume required)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing assignments
Responsibilities
- Float between assigned schools and/or patients based on company needs
- Provide one-on-one nursing care for individual students as required
- Support school-sponsored activities, including: Field trips, Organized school event days
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in accordance with care plans, physician orders, and school policies
- Substitute on Private Duty Nursing (PDN) cases or assist with RN administrative duties during school closures and holidays
- Assist with onboarding, training, and shadowing of RNs requesting first-visit support
- Maintain accurate documentation and clear communication with families, schools, and internal teams
- Uphold all safety, compliance, and professional standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational needs
