School Nurse - 2 days per week (one year position)
About The Position
Position Title: Part-Time School Nurse - 2 days per week (one year position) Location : Galvin Middle School Knowledge & Qualifications: Current R.N. license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing required BSN from an accredited School of Nursing required DESE School Nurse certification Dutiies & Responsibilites: Health assessment; medical treatment and health counseling of students; Medication administration; development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of individualized medication administration care plans and individualized health care plans; Collaborate with other health care providers and school personnel regarding the health of students; provide emergency care to any individual in the case of injury or sudden illness; Organize and implement state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs (vision, hearing, postural, etc.) Maintain comprehensive school health records; prevention and control of communicable diseases within the schools; Maintain current information in a comprehensive school health records for each student based on nursing assessment and medical information, using web-based program Provide training to staff members, including, but not limited to Epi-Pen training, universal health precautions, basic first aid, etc. Adhere to various regulations related to confidentiality of information Respond to frequently encountered health issues, providing counseling and crisis intervention when required, including assessment, treatment and referral Communicate the health status of pupils to the appropriate school personnel Attend team meetings for the development of IEP or 504 plans that require a medical component Assume responsibility for continuing own education and obtain consultation, supervision and peer review as needed Compensation: commensurate with the Unit A salary scale
Requirements
- Current R.N. license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing required
- BSN from an accredited School of Nursing required
- DESE School Nurse certification
