The School Nurse at Casey Middle School is a full-time, 10-month position for the 2026-2027 school year, with initial hours to be determined. This role involves comprehensive health care for students, including assessment of health complaints, medication administration, and care for students with special health care needs. The nurse will manage emergencies, conduct mandated health screenings, verify immunizations, monitor and report infectious diseases, and create health and emergency care plans. A key responsibility is teaching unlicensed personnel to administer emergency medications. The position also focuses on identifying and managing students' chronic health conditions that impact their education, submitting required State DOH surveys, and maintaining thorough documentation. The School Nurse will participate in various meetings and committees, engage in staff development, and represent the health office on building teams. Adherence to current standards of care, professional standards, district policies, and medical protocols under the direction of the District Physician and Nurse Practitioner is essential. Additional duties include monitoring health office equipment, initiating repairs, ordering supplies, assisting with concussion management protocols, overseeing physical verifications for student-athletes, providing student-specific in-services, and direct student care. The nurse will also provide leadership in health care services, screening, referral, health promotion, and serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and health professionals, as well as a leader for health policies and programs. Other responsibilities may be assigned by school administration.
