About The Position

School nurse within the West Des Moines School district. The nurse is responsible for all health issues with students during their schiool day. Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
Experience: One year of nurseing experience required.
Other: Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Works with families, physicians, and West Des Moines Community Schools
Uses the nursing process to promote positive health and development of students
Assures all program- required health screenings are conducted
Provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process including pertinent and appropriate documentation
Exerts independent judgment, and maintains responsibility for the condition of assigned patients
Assures compliance with St ate mandated health requirements for school entry
Implements procedures for prevention of communicable diseases in the schools and alerts staff and parents/ guardians to health trends and issues
