About The Position

This is a substitute (per-diem) nurse position to cover school health offices and field trips based on the needs of the Canton Public Schools District.

Requirements

• Current & valid MA RN or LPN nursing license
• Current & valid CPR/AED certificiation
• Ability to respond professionally to medical emergencies
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong triage and nursing assessment skills necessary
• Fingerprinting and CORI check required

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric experience preferred
• Experience with diabetes, asthma and allergies preferred
• SNAP experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Providing care for sick and injured students and staff pre-K through grade 12
• Administering prescribed medications and treatments as ordered
• Accurately document into electronic health record system (SNAP experience preferred)
• Collaborating with parents and school staff regarding student health issues as they arise. This may include issues related to illness, injury, health promotion, accident or illness prevention, or other issues relevant to the scope of nursing practice in a school
• Accompany students on school sponsored field trips
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Leader as appropriate
