About The Position

The School Nurse (RN) at Chatham Elementary School is responsible for providing health education, first aid care, and maintaining health records for students. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and well-being of students, staff, and families within the school community.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint criminal and DCFS background check.
• Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatments, especially related to children and adolescents.
• Considerable knowledge of child growth and development.
• Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a health education resource person to students, staff, and families.
• Provide first aid care and administer necessary immunizations.
• Maintain accurate health records for each student, including immunizations and physical exam information.
• Order, maintain, and inventory medical supplies while managing the supply budget efficiently.
