About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Contract School Nurse to provide health screening services across multiple schools. The primary responsibilities include conducting vision and hearing screenings, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting school staff in identifying students who may need further evaluation. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys working with children, has strong clinical assessment skills, and prefers flexible, contract-based work.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license in California.
• Strong assessment and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple school locations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between schools.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in pediatrics, school nursing, community health, or similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vision, hearing, and general health screenings according to state and district guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all screenings.
• Communicate screening outcomes to school administration and nursing leadership.
• Identify students who require follow-up care and provide appropriate referral documentation.
• Manage screening equipment and ensure proper sanitation and functionality.
• Travel between assigned school sites as scheduled (mileage may be reimbursed if applicable).
• Follow all district policies, safety procedures, and health protocols.
• Provide a friendly, supportive, and professional environment for students.
