About The Position
The Ithaca City School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse for Boynton Middle School. This position is essential in supporting the health service delivery throughout the district, working under the direction of the Director of Health Services & Wellness and the Medical Director. The School Nurse will play a critical role in assessing and managing acute or chronic illnesses, injuries, or emergencies that students may face in an educational setting. This role is not only about responding to immediate health concerns but also involves providing guidance and support for health promotion initiatives, disease prevention, health education, and health counseling. The School Nurse will be responsible for fulfilling all nursing duties within their assigned school building, ensuring that students receive the necessary care and support to thrive academically and socially. In addition to direct health care responsibilities, the School Nurse will collaborate with educators and staff to create a safe and healthy school environment. This includes developing and implementing health programs that address the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and with varying health challenges. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to the district's mission of engaging, educating, and empowering students, and will demonstrate a basic awareness of the importance of equity in education. The School Nurse will also be expected to maintain meticulous records, communicate effectively with parents and guardians, and participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school health services.
