About The Position

School Monitor The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking a School Monitor to join our Middle School. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities & Outcomes Student Supervision & Safety: Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and transitions between classes. Ensure students follow school rules and engage in safe, respectful behavior. Assist students as needed, resolving minor issues and escalating concerns to appropriate staff. Support an efficient and orderly flow of student movement throughout the school. Lunch & Recess Management: Supervise students during meals, ensuring a clean, respectful, and orderly environment. Assist with the cleanup of tables and surrounding areas, ensuring cleanliness. Oversee recess activities to promote safe and appropriate play. Dismissal & Transition Support: Ensure students transition efficiently between classes and during dismissal. Assist with bus boarding and ensure students leave the building in an orderly manner. Additional Responsibilities: Report serious infractions or safety concerns to school leadership. Provide support for school-wide events and activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a safe and supportive school environment. Teaches CCSP curriculum using textbooks, and resources adopted by the Board of Trustees. Instruct students to master the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student with the support and guidance of the school leadership. Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior aligned with CCSP-established norms as needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other staff members in assessing and helping students and parents develop solutions to academic and non-academic challenges that may impact student achievement. Participates cooperatively in Professional Learning Communities with faculty, coaches, and school leadership. Creates an effective learning environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and centers, aligned with CCSP school-wide norms. Evaluates students’ academic and social/emotional growth, maintain appropriate records, utilize student assessment data, and prepare progress reports and report cards. Communicates with parents through conferences, approved social media venues, phone calls, and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program. Maintains professional competence through school-based professional development and independent learning activities; actively participates in all CCSP-required professional development. Completes and submits required reports. Attends and participates in meetings as deemed necessary and consistent with the needs of CCSP. Performs other duties as assigned by CCSP leadership. Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year working with children or youth-serving organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Highly organized and motivated, self-starter and ability to work independently.
