About The Position

District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12 from across the District of Columbia. We aim to provide our students with a world-class education that empowers them to follow their passions and change the world. DCI’s education centers on an International Baccalaureate curriculum, advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on student agency supported by 1:1 technology. DC International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving more than 1,600 students in grades 6-12 in Washington, DC. Opened in 2014, the school’s mission is to foster inquiring, engaged, knowledgeable, and caring secondary students who are multilingual, culturally competent, and committed to proactively creating a socially just and sustainable world. DCI realizes its mission of creating global citizens through advanced language learning, student agency, and the International Baccalaureate curriculum. DCI International School is looking for graduate school interns to work with our operations, finance, and data teams to provide substantive support on key organizational deliverables. Each intern will contribute to at least one, if not a portfolio of 2-3 projects, during a 10-week summer internship at DCI. These internships would be focused on the following areas: AI Policies and Implementation: Work with school leaders and industry experts to develop a strategic plan for DCI to disseminate AI training and policies to staff and students. Attendance Strategies and Systems: Collaborate with a multi-stakeholder team to enhance data and operational systems to improve efficiency and student attendance. Knowledge Management: Design a Knowledge Management strategy for DCI by evaluating the unique and mission-aligned elements of DCI's knowledge infrastructure and recommending a technology solution/structure for knowledge management. The specifics of these projects will continue to evolve as we get closer to the summer and depending upon the specific areas of expertise of the interns.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a graduate program in business administration (MBA), education, public policy, communications, or data science.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and synthesize complex information.
  • Proficiency with tools relevant to the internship area (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, data visualization platforms, web content management systems, or social media management tools).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback received for real-time improvement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Responsibilities
