This position provides school based mental health assessment, therapy, skills training, consultation, referral services and supports for children, adolescents and families.

Requirements

  • Mental Health Licensure.
  • Knowledge of serious mental illness and community support system services.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and a willingness to travel as needed to client or organization locations throughout SE MN.

Responsibilities

  • Complete diagnostic assessments and provide individual and family therapy or skills training for children, adolescents and families. These services could be provided at school, at home, and/or in the community as needed.
  • Facilitate student groups on relevant issues when appropriate.
  • Develop, monitor and review Children’s Therapeutic Services and Support plans to meet clinical compliance and medical assistance insurance care standards.
  • Complete documentation, billing and maintain case files as required.
  • Refer students to appropriate services (i.e. social services mental health center, mentorship program, etc.).
  • Develop a strong working relationship with school personnel and county agency staff. Provide consultation and help with the identification and documentation of high-risk behavior patterns among students. Work to identify appropriate interventions.
  • Participate in client related IEP meetings and other client related school meetings with parent(s) and other providers.
  • Provide 1 to 2 mental health in-services for school personnel for each school year of the grant.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of and an ongoing relationship with county and regional service providers, attend meetings of the Multidisciplinary Child Protection Team and grant provider meetings (may be additional meetings as determined by SLBH Coordinator or Program Director).
  • Provide objective data related to grant program effectiveness.
  • Possess a vehicle, valid driver license, and valid auto insurance.
