About The Position

Under the direction of the Culinary Services Manager and her/his designee, assist in the preparation and serving of attractive, nutritious meals under strict sanitary conditions in the time allotted.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English, compute and apply basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and use fundamentals of meal preparation following approved safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively and communicate with students, staff and public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Be willing to learn and follow procedures, policies and requirements of the Culinary Services program.
  • Required to provide reliable transportation.
  • Required to provide a current and active phone number.
  • Possess a valid Food Handler's Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost effective meals following standardized procedures.
  • Complete tasks within time allocated.
  • Comply with approved safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in the cleaning of kitchen, equipment, tables, and storeroom as scheduled by Manager or her/his designee.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Manager to insure safe working conditions.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and operating the dish machine.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others.
  • May relieve or assist other unit employees as necessary to maintain the operation of the kitchen unit or as assigned by the Manager and her/his designee.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
