School Floating Nurse - Papillion La Vista Community Schools - To begin November 2025
About The Position
The Floating Nurse provides flexible support across multiple district buildings, ensuring continuous and uninterrupted health services when additional coverage or assistance is needed. The school nurse supports and enhances the educational process by identifying and addressing health-related barriers to learning. This role promotes optimal wellness for students and staff while upholding professional standards, the Nurse Practice Act, and all state and local regulations related to school nursing practice. Responsibilities will include maintaining student health records, conducting screenings, providing first aid and emergency care, and communicating health information to parents, staff, and students. The nurse coordinates referrals, offers health education and counseling and connects families with community resources. Additionally, you will remain current in your field through ongoing professional growth and collaboration, communicate regularly with parents and staff, and contribute to building- and district-level meetings. Dependable attendance, supervisory responsibilities, and other assigned duties are also key components of this position.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse, Bachelors degree recommended
- Holds or is eligible for a Nebraska Special Services Certificate
- Holds Nebraska DHHS license to practice as a Registered Nurse
- 5 years nursing experience
- At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
