About The Position

The School Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating educational programs that promote the City of Denton's waste minimization goals and resource conservation initiatives. This role involves creating engaging content for various audiences, coordinating sustainability education, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance community involvement in recycling and sustainability efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Earth, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Education, Marketing, Communication, or related field.
• Two years of experience, including at least one year in a classroom setting or related field.
• Experience in planning TEKS-compliant lessons and creating educational presentations.
• Direct environmental work or experience in Solid Waste Recycling Education, Outreach, or Operations.

• Ability to lead, develop, and deliver professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop informal and formal community educational programming and marketing strategies aligned with the City of Denton's Strategic Plans.
• Coordinate implementation of comprehensive sustainability educational programming and training.
• Evaluate, update, and provide on-site tours of the Materials Recovery Facility and City of Denton Landfill.
• Perform routine site visits, container audits, inspections, and track/report issues and concerns.
• Design and maintain inventory of educational and promotional materials within budget.
• Collect and track program data, monitor performance, and report through various avenues.
• Research and evaluate successful educational programs and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to determine educational needs.
• Oversee the Solid Waste and Recycling social media presence and maintain relevant website pages.
• Track and report recycling and sustainability program engagement efforts.
• Write speaker proposals and award submissions highlighting program metrics.
