About The Position

The Academic Coach in the Center for Lifelong Learning leads one-on-one lessons that cater to the academic needs and goals of the student. The coach meets with students during the school day. Hours vary from day to day and are dependent upon student enrollment.

Requirements

• Affirms being a 'born again' Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
• Has an associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited, four-year college.
• Is a self-starter with a strong work ethic and enjoys a challenge.
• Can work with minimal supervision within general guidelines.
• Ability to proactively solve problems, work effectively with a variety of students, and handle confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Works with students to help them understand key high school math and/or science concepts, including advanced/AP level math and science.
• Assists students with homework, projects, test preparation, and other academic tasks.
• Serves as a Christian role model for students.
• Provides students with positive and constructive feedback.
• Adapts instruction to different learning styles and preferences.
• Builds meaningful connections with students.
• Offers feedback to teachers and parents when appropriate.
• Contacts teachers for guidance if necessary.
• Keeps scheduling calendar up to date and monitors notifications for newly scheduled sessions.
• Keeps supervisor informed of any concerns.
• Attends all scheduled tutoring sessions, arriving on time.
• Tracks sessions worked in timekeeping app.
