About The Position

Under general supervision, crossing guards will lawfully stop traffic using appropriate signs and equipment, serviceable to traffic flow and safely assisting pedestrians/children across the street. All crossing guards are expected to instruct when appropriate, correct safety habits to drivers and/or children whom they come in contact with. APPLICANTS: This position posting will establish a hiring roster that will be used to fill seasonal vacancies. This position may or may not have an available vacancy at the time a person submits an application. Applications received for this position are reviewed on an on-going basis by the hiring department and will be considered for each vacancy as they become available throughout the season until the deadline date.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  • Must be in good physical condition, including sight and hearing.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate recommended.
  • Ability to judge time and distance in relationship to approaching traffic.
  • Must be reliable, dependable and possess a sense of responsibility for the safety of children.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to establish good rapport with children.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and provide own transportation to job site.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and assisting of school age children in crossing designated intersections within the limits of Logan City.
  • It will be necessary for the individual to be on site 45 minutes prior to school beginning/ending and then remain a minimum of 15 to 30 minutes after school has begun/ended.
  • Required to work set time frame; usually one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon.
