The primary objective of this position is to help support the unique and dynamic developmental needs of adolescent learners and to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well being of all students. Essential functions include providing staff, students, and parents with guidance on course placement, collaborating with school social worker, teachers, students and parents to determine possible need for 504 accommodations, distributing 504 plans to appropriate teachers, and overseeing their implementation. The counselor will actively participate in IEP meetings and provide feedback in support of student needs, provide a welcoming and thorough process for students during enrollment, and meet with parents as needed to discuss academic progress, social/emotional concerns, and safe and healthy lifestyles. This role also involves facilitating or participating in conferences with teachers regarding student progress, supporting students in crisis, sharing individual assessment data with staff along with strategies for improvement, providing individual and group counseling services when appropriate, collaborating with outside providers and community partners to secure resources to support student needs, and providing responsive services to students in need. Other duties may be assigned.
