About The Position

New Covenant Academy is seeking a qualified full-time grades 5-8 School Counselor beginning in August 2026 through May 2027 (contract term is equal to a teacher’s contract term with 5 extra days and is renewable annually pending board approval) at our Liberty Campus. JOB SUMMARY Implement the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program Ensure needs assessments of students and teachers are completed each Semester. Guide and counsel individual students and groups for the purpose of meeting developmental, educational, and guidance needs. Assist in resolving issues with the school testing programs. Must also be able to interpret data in useful and meaningful ways to assist student growth.” Conduct classroom guidance lessons that contribute to the academic, college/career, and personal/social development of all students. Assist the building principal in creating/managing the Master Schedule for Liberty Campus. Assist students in making transitions between grade levels. Assist with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with the 5-8 principal regarding prospective students’ potential for academic success. Assists in the development and implementation of Student Support Plans to help accommodate students in need of assistance. Perform other related duties that ensure efficient and effective functioning of the school community such as, carline duty, team meetings, lunchroom monitoring, etc.

Requirements

  • The School Counselor shall fulfill all of the qualifications for a teacher
  • Experience in counseling methods and/or education
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, promote, and carry out the comprehensive counseling program
  • Possess an understanding of child development stages
  • Demonstrate an understanding in methods of instruction and training
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain the Missouri Career Student Services certificate in school counseling

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in school counseling with life experience in youth ministry is preferred over ministry-based counseling.
