About The Position

Job Purpose: Provide and coordinate counseling services that assist students to maximize their capabilities.

Requirements

• Master's Degree
• NJDOE School Counselor or Student Personnel Services Certification
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
• Excellent communication skills oral and written
• Ability to interact effectively with middle school students
• Ability to learn and implement required services
• Ability to analyze student data to provide appropriate counseling services
• Ability to collaborate and cooperate with classroom teachers and parents/guardians to provide support to students
• Ability to pass the required Criminal History Review
• Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure
• Ability to pass the pre-employment physical exam

Nice To Haves

• 2-3 years as a school counselor
• 2-3 years as a school counselor for middle school students
• Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA)

Responsibilities

• Analyzes student data for determining appropriate services for students
• Communicates with teachers, parents/guardians, and students regarding appropriate services for students
• Provides appropriate counseling services to students
• Works with teachers to ensure students receive appropriate counseling services
• Networks with various network services
• Works with I&RS team to ensure appropriate interventions are implemented
• Counsels students to resolve concerns and problems in school
• Counsels students to prepare them for next steps in their educational development
