About the position
The position involves providing counseling services to students in a school setting, focusing on their personal, social, and academic concerns. The counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to foster a supportive environment and promote student well-being. The role includes developing and implementing counseling programs, conducting assessments, and providing crisis intervention as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group counseling sessions to address students' personal, social, and academic concerns.
- Assess and evaluate student needs to develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Create and implement counseling programs that promote student well-being and academic success.
- Work closely with teachers, staff, and parents to create a supportive school environment.
- Provide crisis intervention and make referrals to external resources when necessary.
- Develop and lead school-wide programs to promote mental health, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers and parents on various topics related to student development and well-being.
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor's degree in school counseling.
- GaPSC certification P-12 school counseling.
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective counseling programs.
