About The Position

The position involves providing intensive therapy for elementary school age children, focusing on reducing symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. The goal is to improve functioning, grades, attendance, peer and parent support, and coping skills. Responsibilities include counseling, therapy, referrals, advocacy, and making timely contact with families. Evaluating the needs of students and families is essential for making accurate assessments and providing interventions that address disruptive behavior and family issues impacting school performance. The role also requires developing comprehensive case plans with achievable goals and objectives, collaborating with families and school team members, and being available for crisis intervention during normal work hours. Additionally, the position involves maintaining professional relationships with the agency and community, assisting in the development of a Parent Resource Center, and engaging students in pro-social activities during the summer months. Documentation and record-keeping in accordance with agency standards are also required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related discipline required.
  • License (LPCMH or LCSW) preferred; license eligible required.
  • Two years post-masters experience or strong clinical background preferred.
  • Flexibility with respect to work assignment in accordance with agency need.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to cultural differences among the agency’s service population.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive therapy for elementary school age children.
  • Assist youth to reduce symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.
  • Provide counseling, therapy, referrals, advocacy, and collateral contacts.
  • Make timely contact with families as indicated.
  • Evaluate the needs of students, families, and others for accurate assessments.
  • Provide intervention for students and families addressing disruptive behavior and family issues.
  • Develop comprehensive case plans for students and families with achievable goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with families, agency staff, school team members, and interested parties to coordinate services.
  • Be available for in-home and telephone crisis intervention during normal work hours.
  • Establish and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with the agency and community.
  • Assist in developing and designing a Parent Resource Center and present educational and health programs.
  • Maintain agency standards regarding confidentiality, quality, and productivity.
  • Engage students in pro-social and/or educational activities during the summer months.
  • Prepare and maintain timely documentation and records in accordance with agency and state requirements.
