About The Position

The Public Health Project Specialist position with the School Community Health Alliance of Michigan (SCHA-MI) is a temporary, part-time role within the Public Health AmeriCorps program. This position focuses on enhancing youth engagement and addressing public health needs through program development, resource building, and community outreach. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to promote health equity and improve access to care for children and adolescents in Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement youth-focused programs and campaigns to enhance engagement and address gaps in public health services.
  • Support planning and execution of various Youth Advisory Council initiatives and activities.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in care and help design a three-year program to improve services and outcomes.
  • Compile documents and organizational materials to streamline grant application processes.
  • Maintain updated organizational rosters, email lists, and internal communication systems.
  • Develop and implement educational resources on community health topics.
  • Coordinate visits to health centers and other community organizations to strengthen collaboration.
  • Assist with the development of statewide public health campaigns and identify guest speakers for mental health networking meetings.
  • Support social media campaign efforts and assist with redesigning newsletters and other communication tools.
  • Bring together SCHA-MI stakeholders to collaborate on shared public health objectives.
