School Bus Driver

About the position

The Oceanside Unified School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of School Bus Driver. This role requires a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in the operation of a motor vehicle. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and other activities, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and laws.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the safety of students during transportation.
• Maintain proper operation of two-way radios.
• Adhere to all applicable provisions of the California Vehicle Code, Code of Regulations, and Education Code.
• Perform basic record-keeping and reporting.
• Follow appropriate health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Provide basic first aid as needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• One year of experience in the operation of a motor vehicle.
• Possession of a valid California Class A or B Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• Valid California School Bus Driver Certificate.
• Possession of a valid Medical Certificate approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles or the Federal Highway Administration.
