About The Position

The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities while maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. The driver ensures compliance with all state laws, district policies, and safety procedures.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsements (or willingness to obtain)
Clean driving record and successful completion of background checks
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage student behavior calmly and respectfully
Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
Ability to sit for extended periods and operate vehicle controls
Ability to assist students entering and exiting the bus
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Ability to lift up to [X] pounds if necessary

Responsibilities

Safely operate a school bus along designated routes and schedules
Pick up and drop off students at assigned locations in a timely manner
Maintain order and appropriate student behavior on the bus
Follow all state and federal traffic laws and school transportation regulations
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues promptly
Maintain accurate records, including mileage, student counts, and incident reports
Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and transportation supervisors
Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or student health needs
Attend required trainings, meetings, and safety drills
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
