About The Position

The Charter / Trip Driver position involves ensuring the safety, welfare, and appropriate conduct of passengers on the vehicle. The driver will operate the vehicle with care to ensure efficiency, conduct a complete daily pre-trip inspection of the bus and any special equipment, and keep the inside of the bus clean and free of debris. The driver must be able to drive any bus as directed by Dispatch, read maps or follow driving directions, and follow trip copies precisely. Timeliness for all assigned duties is crucial, as well as delivering outstanding service to students, parents, school staff, transportation co-workers, and law enforcement officials. The driver must also follow operational procedures in emergency situations, participate in safety events or evacuation drills, complete required paperwork in a timely manner, and adhere to all rules, laws, and policies set by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Bloomington School District.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain CDL Class B driver's license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Current school bus physical.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Valid driver's license for at least 1 year with a good driving record.
  • Enjoy working with children.
  • Flexible schedule to work AM and PM.

  • Previous experience working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding service to students, parents, school staff, transportation co-workers, and law enforcement officials.
  • Follow operational procedures in emergency situations.
  • Complete required paperwork and submit in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing training and attend annual evaluations.
  • Adhere to all rules, laws, and policies set by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Bloomington School District.
