About The Position

The Bus Aide position at West Deptford Township School District is designed to maintain a safe environment for students on the school bus. The Bus Aide will be responsible for ensuring the safety of students while on the bus, reporting any discipline issues or concerns to the Transportation Supervisor, and fulfilling all requirements set by the County Superintendent for School Bus Aides. The role involves checking the bus after each run to ensure no materials or students are left behind and assisting the Bus Driver with student safety measures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must work well with children.
• Must be of good moral character.
• Possess the ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Be in good physical health and ability to perform tasks contained herein.
• Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education.
• Provide information that includes current/former employers within the last twenty (20) years in which the employment involved direct contact with children.
• Provide a written authorization that consents to current and former employers disclosing certain information.
• Provide a written statement as to whether the applicant has any employment history regarding child abuse and/or sexual misconduct.
• Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation.
• Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.
• Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains control of the students at all times to ensure their safety while on the bus.
• Reports any discipline issues immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Immediately reports any issues or concerns to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Fulfills all requirements by the County Superintendent for School Bus Aides.
• Checks the bus after each run, both at the school and after the last stop to ensure that no materials or students are left on the bus.
• Completes all training assigned by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with the Policies of the Board of Education and New Jersey Guidelines of Pupil Transportation.
• Assists the Bus Driver with student safety measures and performs tasks assigned by the Bus Driver.
• Performs all other tasks or duties assigned by Transportation Supervisor in accordance with the Policies of the Board of Education.
