About The Position

The School-Based Therapist works as a part of a team to provide a holistic, humanizing, and empowering learning environment for students. The School-Based Therapist provides therapeutic, case management, and consultation services for children and families. The School-Based Therapist provides assessments, as well as individual, group, and/or family therapy, and assists in the creation and implementation of individual education and behavioral plans for each student. In addition, the School-Based Therapist facilitates the understanding of clinical issues with classroom and school staff, and aids in creating a healing centered school environment. About the UE West Coast Connections Program Seneca’s Unconditional Education West Coast Connections Program partners with 10 schools across Contra Costa County to provide students and families with services based on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our staff implement strategies that range from creating, implementing and monitoring trauma-informed school wide systems that benefit all students, to individualized therapy and targeted behavioral support for students with the highest levels of need. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, psychology or related licensure-eligible field.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the applicable regulatory agency responsible for licensing, examination, and enforcement of competent mental health practice standards.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid California Driver's License, and insurance with the ability to provide frequent transportation and travel in the Bay Area.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.

  • Bilingual Spanish/ Spanish Language Capacity preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, including teachers, counselors, specialists, and program leadership
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy, as well as case management for a caseload of school-referred students
  • Engage caregivers and school staff in the treatment process with regular discussions on student progress and needs
  • Provide crisis intervention, including risk screening, assessment, triage, and service linkage
  • Provide consultation and/or coaching to school staff around student needs and risk management rooted in a healing centered approach
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing
  • Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of the student, including other Seneca programs or outside agencies
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training This may include intervening with the students' behavioral program through physical management
