About The Position

Under the guidance of the BHCS Clinical Outpatient Manager, BHCS Clinical Director, BHCS Director of Operations, and BHCS VP of Operations, the School-Based Clinical Team Lead provides clinical leadership, supervision, and direct services within Ada S. McKinley’s Behavioral Health Outpatient Services. This position is dedicated to the ASM Bridge Program and serves as the primary clinical and operational liaison between the agency and assigned school(s). The School-Based Clinical Team Lead provides clinical precepting, consultation, and support to school-based clinicians while also delivering direct clinical services to children and adolescents experiencing acute and chronic emotional or behavioral needs. Services are provided onsite in school settings and in compliance with Illinois Medicaid Rule 132, agency standards, and program productivity requirements. The Team Lead supports school-based psychotherapists and is responsible for ensuring quality service delivery, staff support, and effective collaboration with school partners. Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation, counseling, social work, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related field.
  • LPC/LSW/AMFT licensure or QMHP credentials required.
  • Two or more years of experience providing clinical oversight and consultation, including review of program deliverables and treatment plans, and offering structured guidance and case consultation to both school-based and/or outpatient clinicians
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required to travel between school sites.
  • This position also calls for an individual who has been cleared by the State of Illinois based upon a prior history of child abuse/neglect.
  • In addition, the individual must clear a personal background review, fingerprinting, and criminal checks.
  • This position requires the ability to partner with clients individually and/or in family to help them mobilize resources and build resilience.
  • Individual should possess the ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
  • Individual must demonstrate the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
  • This position requires the individual possess an understanding of evidence-informed practices, engagement strategies, boundary setting, concurrent documentation, working in a community setting, organizing, motivational interviewing, and family systems.
  • Ability to conceptualize and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for assigned school(s), supporting communication, collaboration, and issue resolution.
  • Provide clinical guidance and consultation to assigned school-based clinicians.
  • Monitor clinician productivity and service quality; provide coaching, corrective guidance, and escalate concerns to the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Outpatient Manager as needed.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of school-based staff related to documentation standards, Medicaid compliance, client safety, crisis response, and school-based workflows.
  • Support coverage planning during clinician absences and assist with staffing transitions when needed.
  • Provide billable clinical services, including individual therapy, group therapy, and Medicaid-allowable collateral or consultation services with school staff, parents, or guardians.
  • Ensure all services are medically necessary, authorized, and documented timely in the electronic health record in compliance with agency and funding requirements.
  • Ensure all services comply with informed consent, confidentiality, client rights, agency policy, licensing standards, and applicable regulations, including IDHS, DCFS, and ANCRA.
  • Maintain timely communication with internal teams, schools, and community partners.
  • Maintain an average of 2.5 billable service hours per workday in accordance with ASM Bridge Program expectations, Illinois Medicaid Rule 132, and agency productivity standards.
  • Complete Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths (IM+CANS) for clients referred for routine or urgent outpatient services, using current DSM and ICD standards or their successors.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans consistent with agency policy, professional standards, licensing requirements, informed consent, client rights, and confidentiality laws.
  • Deliver and coordinate all services identified in the treatment plan, including therapy, rehabilitative interventions, case management, linkage to resources, crisis support, and ongoing progress assessment.
  • Provide direct clinical services as needed, including assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention.
  • Complete diagnostic and mental health assessments consistent with DSM-V-TR and ICD-10 standards.
  • Support treatment implementation, hospitalization monitoring, discharge planning, linkage, and aftercare coordination for students and families.
