About The Position

RCM is seeking full or part-time School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) for elementary school students for the 2024/2025 school year in Benicia, CA. The primary purpose of this role is to plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students who exhibit speech, fluency, voice, language, or pragmatic disorders. The SLP will evaluate, develop, and implement intervention and treatment plans aimed at eliminating or reducing impairments that hinder a student's ability to fully benefit from their educational program. The SLP will be responsible for receiving student referrals and implementing the appraisal process, selecting and administering both formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services. This includes collecting and organizing relevant assessment data from various sources such as the student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers, principals, support staff, parents, and outside resources. The SLP will also conduct classroom observations and personal interviews, participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, and assist in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students according to district procedures. In addition to assessment and planning, the SLP will provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with their IEP goals, evaluate student progress, and determine readiness for termination of services. The SLP will also develop and maintain effective relationships with students and parents, compile and maintain all required reports and records, and comply with district and local campus routines and regulations. The role requires excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents. The SLP will also assist classroom teachers in implementing IEPs, instruct eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies, and develop educational materials to minimize the adverse educational impact of communication disorders. Regular reporting on student progress toward IEP goals is also a key responsibility. Overall, the SLP plays a crucial role in fostering a positive educational environment and promoting the success of students with communication disorders.
