About The Position

About the Position: AMH is opening a school health center in Graham County Schools this fall. Appalachian Mountain Health is seeking a motivated and caring Medical Assistant to support healthcare services provided to students and staff at our school health center serving Robbinsville Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in Graham County, NC. The medical assistant will assist our Advanced Practice Provider in delivering high-quality, compassionate care, including primary care and same-day treatment, in a unique and rewarding school-based setting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification (required).
• At least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting (pediatrics preferred).
• Ability to work well with children, adolescents, and school staff in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certification as CMA or RMA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, answer phone, schedule appointments
• Complete patient registration including demographic and insurance information and assisting patients with applying for sliding fee scale services.
• Room patients and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
• Assist with clinical procedures, immunizations, and specimen collection.
• Maintain medical supplies, exam rooms, and infection control standards.
• Document accurately in electronic medical records.
• Provide administrative support including paperwork and filing as needed.
• Participate in outreach activities in the school and community.
